June 29, 2020 New Braunfels, TX CHOSEN and Angel Armies signed a partnership agreement in a strategic move to begin building a best-in-class care model to reshape how children within the U.S. welfare system receive resources, support and care.

CHOSEN is the fifth non-profit organization to join Angel Armies since 2018, when the organization was founded by American contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter Chris Tomlin and his wife Lauren.

“Angel Armies’ goal is to gather best-practice organizations who are fighting the child welfare crisis. When we learned of CHOSEN, we knew they addressed a key component to caring for vulnerable children. Childhood trauma cannot be overlooked as we work to be a voice for the vulnerable,” said Tomlin.

CHOSEN joins four acclaimed organizations already serving Angel Armies’ quest to reshape the child welfare system: America’s Kids Belong, CarePortal, Lifeline, and Promise686. “On behalf of the hundreds of families that CHOSEN serves, we say thank you. Thank you to Chris and Lauren for serving as a megaphone to reverse the child welfare crisis in our country,” said CHOSEN CEO Jenni Lord. “The Tomlins have open hearts and a keen sense that it takes an “army” of the best-in-class organizations, churches, and supporters working together to reshape an antiquated system into one that works to heal.”

More than 4 million children touch the child welfare system each year. According to the *Children’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, in 2017 there were an estimated 442,000 children in foster care; 32 percent were in a relative’s home and 42 percent were in nonrelative foster family homes.

“CHOSEN serves a critical need in helping children heal from abuse, neglect and loss, but we are one part of the whole,” said Lord. “It is humbling to partner with the best-in-care organizations to develop the most effective model in addressing the deepest needs of our country’s most vulnerable.”
